The story of REPRESENT began as a college project, when George Heaton realized he could sell his art through graphic design on clothing. He began sourcing raw garments and printing his designs locally. The name of the brand came about almost by accident: writing down 15 random names on a piece of paper, George stumbled upon “Representing”. A friend suggested dropping the “-ing”, and from there REPRESENT was born.

From Birth to Success: REPRESENT in Fashion

REPRESENT 's first product was launched in 2012, with 20 box logo T-shirts produced by Merch Asylum. That summer, George set up a small stand at the Glass Butter Beach festival in Abersoch. Noticing Rizzle Kicks performing on the main stage, he handed them box logo caps. The band wore the caps to their shows and, with no marketing budget, this was a huge boost to the brand's visibility. Online sales began to take off and Footasylum subsequently asked to stock REPRESENT garments, marking the start of B2B sales and helping George build capital and experiment with new designs and production processes.

2022 marked a year of accelerated growth for REPRESENT . After two years of lockdown restrictions, we decided to expand our physical presence. We developed numerous in-store activations at Selfridges and Flannels and pop-up stores in Manchester and London. Our international expansion included a pop-up activation at KaDeWe in Berlin, the second largest department store in Europe after Harrods.

The Manchester pop-up was particularly memorable, coinciding with the launch of our collaboration with Liam Gallagher. The event attracted over 2,000 people, many of whom queued overnight. The Liam Gallagher collection was subsequently released online for a limited one-hour sale, landing us our first GQ story of 2022. In October, we followed up with another pop-up in London, where we had to significantly expand the store space to accommodate the volume of customers.

In 2022, we also launched the Viper sneaker, a new silhouette that immediately caught the attention. The launch campaign, embellished with a touch of irony, attracted pre-release articles from GQ, Esquire, Hypebeast, and Complex. The shoe sold out in minutes, even before the general sale opening time.

The year also saw the diversification of our 247 collection with the launch of the 247 Run, Train and Explore lines, each specialising in improved fabrics, cuts and technical features. With family as one of our core values, 2022 saw significant growth in our community, with REPRESENT staff doubling and the first Community Day taking place in Manchester.
